About the Role

The Senior Manager, Engineering is responsible for managing mechanical engineers and designers, providing strategy, vision, and direction to engineering staff. This role ensures creative, efficient, and fast-track development while fostering personal and staff growth, operating with minimal supervision.

Responsibilities

  • Develop, implement, maintain, and communicate departmental strategy aligned with business unit initiatives.
  • Develop, implement, maintain, and communicate departmental plans, including resource planning, staff development, and budget preparation.
  • Plan Technology Management projects, defining scope, systems, products, strategies, tactics, risks, schedules, resources, budgets, and returns.
  • Plan PDI interdepartmental team projects, defining scope, systems, products, strategies, tactics, risks, schedules, resources, budgets, and returns.
  • Train, mentor, and facilitate staff to ensure opportunities for personal development and advancement.
  • Communicate corporate and business unit vision and strategic initiatives to staff.
  • Participate regularly as a team member or team leader.
  • Perform administrative duties including schedule, attendance, timesheet, and budget monitoring.
  • Develop and implement key processes and process improvements.
  • Coordinate team activities and tasks, including with vendors.
  • Research applications, technologies, and design alternatives for products based on market requirements.
  • Provide conceptual and detailed designs of a complex nature.
  • Verify and validate design and project objectives with customers and the business unit.
  • Manage interviewing, hiring, planning, assigning, directing work, appraising performance, rewarding and disciplining employees, and resolving complaints.
  • Directly manage 1-15 employees.

Requirements

  • Must have experience managing and leading engineering teams.
  • Strong background in engineering techniques and application required.
  • Ability to read, analyze, and interpret technical procedures or governmental regulations.
  • Ability to write reports, business correspondence, and procedure manuals.
  • Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from groups of managers, employees, and the general public.
  • Must have the ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists.
  • Ability to work in a highly confidential work environment.
  • Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form.
  • Must be proficient with Microsoft Office Suite.
  • Ability to reduce complex engineering problems into simplified form and educate others.
  • Strong knowledge of patent processes, application, and interpretation.
  • Ability to use a wide application of engineering principles, theories, and concepts, with a working knowledge of other related disciplines.

Salary/Compensations

  • $150,000.00 - $170,000.00 per year
