About the Role
To provide a comprehensive initial assessment of symptoms, psychosocial needs and direct the ongoing care of patients referred to the palliative care services, for the Specialist Inpatient Unit and the community palliative care team at Calvary Hospital Kogarah.
Responsibilities
- Provide a comprehensive initial assessment of symptoms and psychosocial needs.
- Direct the ongoing care of patients referred to palliative care services.
- Serve the Specialist Inpatient Unit and the community palliative care team.
Requirements
- Possess registration as a specialist palliative care physician with the Medical Board of Australia - Insurance Act 1997.
- Have at least 3 years of postgraduate training in Palliative Medicine.
- Hold FAChPM and/or FRACP.
- Demonstrate experience in the management of Palliative Care patients.
- Exhibit high-level interpersonal and communication skills.
- Show demonstrated ability to work within a multidisciplinary team.
- Commitment to contemporary palliative care service provision.
- Demonstrate knowledge of national and state priorities for palliative care services.
- Possess sound clinical knowledge in Palliative Medicine.
- Show evidence of participation in Continuing Medical Education.
- Undertake education and self-monitoring/audit practices that support credentialing.
- Experience and involvement in quality assurance activities and evidence-based best practice.
- Complete pre-employment checks including reference checks, work rights, criminal history check, NDIS/WWCC/WWVP checks, and a health evaluation.
- Provide evidence of immunisation including influenza, tuberculosis screening, hepatitis, diphtheria, tetanus, and varicella.
