About the Role

BGIS is seeking an experienced Senior Project Accountant to support the financial management, reporting, and commercial performance of its growing Advisory Services portfolio. This role involves collaborating with project teams, operational stakeholders, and finance colleagues to deliver accurate project accounting, forecasting, reporting, and financial insights. The ideal candidate will enjoy building relationships and working with numbers, partnering with Project Managers and stakeholders across Australia to gather information, provide guidance, and ensure projects are tracked accurately.

Responsibilities

  • Maintain and update Work in Progress (WIP) reporting using project data provided by Project Managers.
  • Prepare monthly client billings, revenue accruals, expense accruals, and supporting documentation.
  • Assist with Percentage of Completion (PoC) calculations and project revenue recognition activities.
  • Maintain and reconcile general ledger accounts, ensuring accuracy and compliance with accounting standards.
  • Support month-end reporting activities, including reconciliations, margin analysis, and financial reporting.
  • Prepare and contribute to cash flow reporting and project financial analysis.
  • Partner with Project Managers to provide guidance on budgets, project costs, and financial processes.
  • Support audit activities by preparing documentation and responding to information requests.
  • Deliver financial training and support to operational stakeholders where required.
  • Identify opportunities to improve reporting, controls, and financial processes.

Requirements

  • Minimum 5 years' experience in accounting, finance, or project accounting roles.
  • Demonstrated experience preparing Percentage of Completion (PoC) calculations.
  • Strong understanding of IFRS 15 and project revenue recognition principles.
  • Experience preparing financial reports, reconciliations, accruals, and month-end reporting.
  • Excellent stakeholder engagement and communication skills.
  • Strong analytical skills with the ability to interpret financial information and provide meaningful insights.
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities and meet reporting deadlines.
  • Advanced Microsoft Excel skills, along with proficiency in Word, Outlook, and PowerPoint.
  • Experience within project-based environments such as construction, engineering, consulting, professional services, or project management (desirable).
  • Experience with ERP systems, project accounting software, budgeting, forecasting, and cash flow reporting (desirable).
  • Experience supporting Project Managers and operational teams with financial guidance (desirable).
  • Experience delivering financial training to non-financial stakeholders (desirable).
  • Strong interest in continuous improvement and process enhancement initiatives (desirable).
  • Full working rights in Australia.
