About the Role

Spangler’s Market is seeking a dependable, upbeat Cashier for its West Portal location in San Francisco. This role involves connecting with the community, providing excellent customer service, and ensuring efficient transaction processing. Flexible availability, including weekdays, weekends, and holidays during daytime hours, is essential.

Responsibilities

• Answer customer questions and direct them to items.
• Document customer requests and listen to complaints when management is unavailable.
• Accurately process customer transactions using the ECRS platform (cash, credit cards, gift cards).
• Turn in the cash drawer according to store management procedures.
• Ensure products are rotated, within date, and properly displayed.
• Organize the stockroom and fill assigned sections.
• Lift, push, or pull up to 50 pounds.
• Maintain a clean and orderly store environment, addressing spills and hazards promptly.
• Clean cases, shelves, and floors.
• Safely operate equipment like pallet jacks.
• Protect the safety of oneself, co-workers, and patrons, reporting accidents immediately.
• Follow safe lifting procedures.
• Troubleshoot equipment breakdowns during shifts and report them.
• Advise management of potential shoplifters via CB.
• Adhere to all company policies and procedures.
• Maintain open communication with management and ownership.
• Attend scheduled staff meetings.
• Assist with other assigned duties.

Requirements

• Ability to follow instructions, policies, and procedures.
• Flexibility to work weekends, evenings, and holidays.
• Strong communication skills and enjoyment of customer engagement.
• Consistent reliability with strong attendance and punctuality.
• Strong organizational skills.
• Ability to multitask and thrive in a fast-paced retail environment.
• Previous grocery or retail experience preferred.
• Willing to train for cashiering experience.
