About the Role

New York Life is seeking an experienced and collaborative paralegal to support the Office of the General Counsel Investments Group, with a focus on matters related to mutual fund Board meetings and corporate governance. This full-time remote position provides the opportunity to partner closely with colleagues, prepare legal documents, and manage projects to help ensure the timely execution of legal initiatives. The ideal candidate is team-focused, highly organized, detail-oriented and able to manage multiple priorities while building effective relationships across the organization.

Responsibilities

  • Assist team in preparation, organization and distribution of materials for mutual fund Board meetings, including administration of the electronic Board books system platform
  • Assist team in drafting and revising legal memos, Board and Committee resolutions, corporate governance documents, contracts, and other legal materials
  • Draft and maintain timelines, project plans and facilitate coordination of projects in connection with Board meeting initiatives and other corporate governance matters
  • Assist with process for electronic execution of legal documents and various recordkeeping responsibilities
  • Interact with various business departments and attend meetings on behalf of the Office of the General Counsel

Requirements

  • Minimum 5 years of paralegal experience in mutual fund area
  • Ability to work collaboratively to achieve team objectives
  • High level of attention to detail and ability to manage confidential information
  • Ability to manage multiple concurrent workstreams and deadlines in a fast-paced environment
  • Exceptional written, verbal, and interpersonal communication skills
  • Ability to handle multiple projects simultaneously and complete projects on a timely basis
  • Ability to establish and maintain effective partnerships with other business departments
  • Strong computer skills, including Microsoft Outlook, Word, Adobe, Excel and DocuSign, with interest in or experience with legal technology, workflow automation, or document management tools (experience with Diligent electronic Board books platform preferred)
