About the Role
The Mechanical Engineer will own the design and development of deployable turbine products, including packaging, structural frames, mounts, and mechanical systems for feeding, cooling, and servicing. This role is crucial for transforming the turbine core into a scalable, repeatable, and serviceable product.
Responsibilities
- Own the design of the turbine package, structural frame, mounts, and mechanical systems.
- Define how the core engine integrates into a deployable unit.
- Design for scalability, repeatability, and serviceability in the field.
- Develop solutions for clustering, infrastructure sharing, and servicing of multiple units.
Requirements
- Experience designing packaged machinery and mechanical systems (gensets, engines, turbines, compressors, skids, or comparable high-power equipment).
- Proficiency in designing for manufacture and assembly.
- Understanding of tradeoffs between footprint, cost, serviceability, and installation time.
- Ability to move quickly from packaging concepts to released drawings while maintaining rigor.
- Experience with hardware shipping, installation, and operation.
- Familiarity with packaged power, gensets, turbochargers, or small gas turbines is strongly preferred.
- Direct experience taking a machine from drawing to deployed unit is strongly preferred.
About the Company
- American Turbines is designing small modular gas turbines for distributed power generation.
- The company is backed by investors of SpaceX, Boom Supersonic, and Hadrian.
- The company aims to provide scalable power solutions for growing demands like data centers and industrial electrification.
