About the Role

The Information and Assistance Specialist provides assessment, information, referral, and assistance to older adults and adults with disabilities. This role involves collecting and sharing information on community resources, performing outreach, and maintaining timely data records. The specialist will collaborate with other agencies and the IOA Information and Assistance Supervisor, integrating seniors and adults with disabilities into the services and programs of the San Francisco Senior Center.

Responsibilities

  • Collaborates with other agencies and the IOA Information and Assistance Supervisor following grant guidelines.
  • Conducts intake and needs assessments of clients to provide information and/or referrals to appropriate resources.
  • Assists clients in accessing needed services and advocates on their behalf.
  • Provides clients with information and/or translation services.
  • Refers appropriate clients to SFSC Service Coordinator.
  • Provides follow-up to confirm clients obtain needed services.
  • Establishes contacts and maintains relationships with key personnel in other agencies.
  • Conducts outreach to businesses, groups, and individuals to promote service utilization.
  • Schedules and makes presentations to various agencies.
  • Represents SFSC at relevant resource fairs.
  • Completes proper documentation, data entry of reports, and submits monthly service logs and reports.
  • Maintains organized, accurate, and complete documentation.
  • Assists in SFSC business needs such as opening and closing the facility.
  • Supports the center staff team as necessary.
  • Performs additional responsibilities as needed.

Requirements

  • Bilingual in English and Mandarin or Cantonese.
  • Proficient interpersonal, verbal, and written English communication skills.

  • Ability to use tact and courtesy in dealing with residents under sometimes trying conditions.
  • Ability to show patience and understanding.
  • Ability to handle a fast-paced environment and work under pressure.

Salary/Compensations

  • $26.94 - $31.65/hr.
