About the Role

This role focuses on providing medical and clinical support services to patients, specifically performing diagnostic testing to monitor the functional integrity of neural structures. It involves hands-on support within a clinical environment, requiring basic knowledge of job procedures and tools, and working under moderate supervision.

Responsibilities

• Performs all or the more difficult parts of an EEG Technologist position.
• May perform the duties of Chief EEG Technologist during vacation or illness.
• Records sensory evoked potentials for diagnostic purposes.
• Obtains EEG recordings in the Operating Room during cerebrovascular surgery, neurosurgical procedures, and surgery-related sensory evoked potentials.
• Records EEGs at bedside, including isolation, neonatal, and all ICU conditions.
• Performs appropriate calibration procedures of the EEG apparatus for special and standard recordings.
• Adapts procedures to particular circumstances by adding electrodes in non-standard locations to devise appropriate recording techniques.
• Assists medical staff during special procedures by providing extra monitoring and electrode application.
• Participates in research by collecting data such as case history and handedness.
• Provides direct technical descriptions of EEG changes to surgeons during monitoring.
• Inspects and ensures proper maintenance of EEG and related equipment.
• Obtains standard and special procedure EEG recordings including Evoked Potential recordings.
• Assists in training EEG students.
• Participates in research projects.

Requirements

• High School diploma or equivalent.
• Successful completion of an approved course of study in Electroencephalography (EEG).
• American Board of Registry in EEG Technology certification.
• Basic Life Support Certification.
• One (1) year of experience as an EEG Technologist.

• Strong knowledge of Microsoft Office and Meditech.
• Strong organizational and interpersonal skills.
• Ability to read, write, speak, and communicate effectively.
• Excellent typing skills.
• Proficiency in word processing, spreadsheet and database software programs.
• Good communication skills.
