About the Role

The Business Development Senior Specialist acts as a liaison to assigned practice and/or industry groups, developing and executing strategies, managing business development pursuits, marketing campaigns, client events, and key account activities. This role involves enhancing knowledge of service offerings, lawyers, and clients to foster cross-selling.

Responsibilities

  • Serves as lead project manager for RFPs and pitches.
  • Writes new business proposals, conducts matter research, and produces targeted responses to RFIs/RFPs.
  • Supports follow-up, debrief activities post-pitch, and reports results.
  • Supports practice/industry team leadership on marketing and client development plans.
  • Develops and refines business development infrastructure, ensuring consistency and accuracy of marketing collateral.
  • Helps prepare and manage the group’s BD budget and analyzes initiative ROI.
  • Coordinates with Market Intelligence for industry, client, and competitive research.
  • Facilitates the planning, implementation, and follow-up of new business or cross-marketing opportunities.
  • Leads the drafting and submission of rankings, awards, surveys, and other recognitions.
  • Works with Regional BD and Marketing to plan client programs and events.
  • Works with Communications and PR to identify thought leadership topics and media opportunities.
  • Recommends and facilitates lawyer involvement in professional organizations to enhance visibility.

Requirements

  • A Bachelor's degree from an accredited university.
  • A minimum of five (5) years of professional marketing, business development, or other relevant experience.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office and Outlook.
  • Marketing, business development, or related experience in a law firm or other professional services organization (preferred).
  • Working knowledge of customer relationship, pipeline, and experience management databases such as InterAction, Salesforce, and/or Foundation (preferred).
  • Familiarity with relevant company/market research tools, as well as law firm rankings, awards, and league table publications (preferred).
  • Strong organizational skills.
