About the Role

Rewards & Career Advisory, a unit of Aon’s Human Capital Solutions practice, is looking for a Compensation Consulting Director to join our Enterprise Rewards advisory practice. The ideal candidate is a creative, curious problem solver with international compensation consulting experience, strong analytical, communication and organizational skills, who thrives in a fast-paced environment. This role involves managing complex client engagements, leading teams in developing solutions, and developing team members' skills in job architecture, job leveling, pay transparency, and pay program design.

Responsibilities

  • Serve as project manager for large, complex projects and/or lead multiple small-to-moderately complex compensation consulting projects.
  • Ensure project work is delivered on time, on-budget and to the client’s satisfaction.
  • Guide team on use of existing templates and tools and in the creation of new models or templates to support analysis or client deliverables.
  • Connect project goals, findings, and recommendations to the big picture -- clients’ business situation, resource constraints, HR or Talent issues beyond initial project remit.
  • Participate in and support new business scoping discussions.
  • Prepare client proposals.
  • Identify data or analysis required to address client’s questions or goals.
  • Create trusted relationships with clients at senior levels.
  • Contribute to Human Capital Solutions intellectual capital development.
  • Participate in the development of firm capabilities and offerings (recruitment, training, etc.).
  • Contribute to a positive, productive, and engaged Human Capital Solutions culture.
  • Assist team members of all levels to ensure high-quality work, build client relationships, and achieve practice/project goals.

Requirements

  • 12+ years of progressively responsible compensation experience, including at least 6 years’ consulting experience and experience working on strategic rewards projects at multinational organizations.
  • Excellent hands-on project management experience.
  • Proactive and transparent communication skills.
  • Demonstrated knowledge of current rewards and talent management practices and trends, potentially including strategic transaction projects (M&A), base pay and/or incentive plan design, job architecture and job evaluation, pay transparency and pay equity, and/or Total Rewards.
  • Ability to drive from complex data to insight/findings and articulate the “so what”.
  • Demonstrated ability to identify results that deviate from expectations or warrant further review.
  • Strong top-down analytical skills combined with inductive reasoning skills (pattern recognition, “dot connecting”) ideal.
  • Advanced Excel and PowerPoint skills, including ability to build complex, interactive Excel models.
  • Ability to translate potentially complex subject matter for a variety of audiences.
  • Strong consultative skills, including relationship building, process skills, and facilitation skills.
  • Experience leading and working effectively with/within diverse teams.
  • Strong time management skills, including the ability to multi-task and manage multiple projects in a fast-paced, deadline-oriented environment.
  • Ability to travel as requested by clients (typically <15%).
