About the Role

Provides direct pastoral care to patients, their families, and hospital staff system-wide, including at the Cancer Center. Coordinates spiritual care functions at L+M and Westerly Hospital, including volunteers and on-call spiritual support.

Responsibilities

  • Provides direct spiritual/clinical care to patients, families, and staff system-wide.
  • Coordinates spiritual care volunteers and on-call pastoral coverage at Westerly Hospital.
  • Provides on-call coverage for L+M Hospital one weekend a month and periodically on week nights.
  • Assesses patients' spiritual conditions and makes appropriate plans for follow-up.
  • Documents spiritual/clinical care visits according to policy in the hospital's electronic charting program.
  • Makes referrals to other patient care areas as appropriate.
  • Contacts the patient's place of worship with permission.
  • Participates in departmental meetings, events, and educational sessions.
  • Meets performance expectations for Customer Service, Teamwork, Resource Utilization, and Staff and Self Development.
  • Performs other duties as assigned or directed to ensure smooth operation of the department/unit.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's Degree Required.
  • One Year Working As Chaplain In A Health Care Setting preferred.
  • Minimum of 2 units of accredited Clinical Pastoral Education preferred.
  • Letter Of Endorsement For Hospital Ministry By Appropriate Religious Authority.

Skills

  • Board Certification From APC Or Equivalent Is Preferred

  • Bachelor's Degree Required.
