About the Role
Provides direct pastoral care to patients, their families, and hospital staff system-wide, including at the Cancer Center. Coordinates spiritual care functions at L+M and Westerly Hospital, including volunteers and on-call spiritual support.
Responsibilities
- Provides direct spiritual/clinical care to patients, families, and staff system-wide.
- Coordinates spiritual care volunteers and on-call pastoral coverage at Westerly Hospital.
- Provides on-call coverage for L+M Hospital one weekend a month and periodically on week nights.
- Assesses patients' spiritual conditions and makes appropriate plans for follow-up.
- Documents spiritual/clinical care visits according to policy in the hospital's electronic charting program.
- Makes referrals to other patient care areas as appropriate.
- Contacts the patient's place of worship with permission.
- Participates in departmental meetings, events, and educational sessions.
- Meets performance expectations for Customer Service, Teamwork, Resource Utilization, and Staff and Self Development.
- Performs other duties as assigned or directed to ensure smooth operation of the department/unit.
Requirements
- Bachelor's Degree Required.
- One Year Working As Chaplain In A Health Care Setting preferred.
- Minimum of 2 units of accredited Clinical Pastoral Education preferred.
- Letter Of Endorsement For Hospital Ministry By Appropriate Religious Authority.
Skills
- Board Certification From APC Or Equivalent Is Preferred
