About the Role

Assists with procedures requiring sophisticated digital Radiology equipment, including passing instruments, guide wires, and catheters. Operates image intensifier to aid physicians during procedures. Rotates on call and may cover the Radiology floor as needed.

Responsibilities

• Operate all special procedure and/or Cath Lab equipment efficiently and accurately.
• Ensure all equipment is in proper working condition and follow preventative maintenance schedules.
• Notify Biomed of equipment malfunctions and provide QA as needed.
• Assist Senior Technologist in training new personnel and providing in-service education.
• Act as a surgical assistant and provide assistance as needed.
• Rotate on call, covering off shifts, holidays, and weekends.
• Function as a Radiologic Technologist in general radiography or Special Procedures Suite as needed.
• Provide patient care, including vital signs and venipuncture.
• Inject contrast and maintain airways.
• Maintain sterile technique in a surgical setting.
• Be multi-skilled in areas such as Cath Lab and Specials, or Cath Lab and Radiology.
• Meet performance expectations for Customer Service, Teamwork, Resource Utilization, and Staff and Self Development.
• Perform other duties as assigned or directed.

Requirements

• High School graduate or G.E.D.
• Satisfactorily completed formal radiologic technology training in an AMA-approved school.
• Meet requirements for registry by A.R.R.T.
• At least one year of experience preferred in all phases of special procedures techniques.
• Possess capabilities determined to be adequate by the department head.
• Gain a variety of experience demonstrating job knowledge.
• Be able to instruct others in equipment use.
• Hold a current Connecticut State License in Radiologic Technology.

Skills

• A.R.R.T Registered (R)
• A.R.R.T. (CV), (CI), (VI), (RCIS) certification based on specialty preferred or obtained within 18 months of hire.
• ACLS Certification.

Experience Level

• 1 year experience preferred

Education Level

• High School graduate or G.E.D.
• Formal radiologic technology training in an AMA-approved school.
