About the Role
Clifford Chance's real estate team devises innovative, bespoke, and commercial solutions for clients where real estate is the core asset, working across the entire property life cycle on challenging transactions. This role offers exposure to leading industry players and complex matters, with opportunities to develop legal skills, commercial acumen, and strategic client relationships.
Responsibilities
- Drafting, negotiation, and analysis of direct real estate and corporate real estate transaction documentation, including share purchase agreements.
- Handling development work.
- Managing landlord/tenant documentation.
- Providing real estate advice and input on Finance and Corporate support matters, including reviewing certificates of title and providing real estate specific input on SPAs and loan documents.
- Collaborating with Partners and other Lawyers.
- Assisting in the development of more junior lawyers.
- Engaging in a high proportion of client contact.
- Taking a lead associate role, managing transactions and/or teams of lawyers across multiple practice areas and/or jurisdictions.
- Acting as a real estate specialist supporting wider teams.
- Involving in business development and the management and organisation of teams of clients, lawyers, and professional advisers.
- Utilizing client focus initiatives to understand and drive service levels.
- Managing matters with a disciplined practice, adhering to matter opening and conflicts clearance processes.
- Utilizing 'Best Delivery' tools and AI where applicable, such as Legora, Orbital WitnessCoPilot, templates, Legal Support Centre, Resource Management, Legal Project Managers, and Matter Balance Reports.
- Completing mandatory and relevant skills, risk, and legal training.
Requirements
- Senior Real Estate experience gained at a City firm or an overseas common law practice with a highly regarded profile.
- A good grounding in real estate as an asset class.
- Excellent document drafting skills.
- Strong communication and analytical skills.
- A high level of commercial awareness.
- Strong exposure to collaborating with multi-disciplinary teams.
- An appetite for developing client relationships and thought leadership.
- A strong academic history is essential.
