About the Role
Solutions Engineers are trusted technical advisors who help customers maximize Nearmap's Imagery, 3D, and AI products. You will lead technical engagements throughout the customer lifecycle, from pre-sales discovery and solution design to post-sale adoption, working closely with the Sales team.
Responsibilities
- Lead strategic discovery engagements with customers and prospects to understand their workflows, data ecosystems, and business challenges.
- Act as a trusted advisor, shaping client strategy and solution architecture, and building executive-level relationships across pre-sales, implementation, and post-sales.
- Design and deliver tailored demos and scalable, scenario-based demonstrations that show how Nearmap's products solve real customer problems.
- Identify upsell and expansion opportunities, and advise customers on API, offline product, and custom application strategies.
- Lead integration and onboarding for new customers, providing hands-on technical support and best-practice guidance.
- Act as technical liaison to Product and Engineering, surfacing customer feedback, bugs, and feature gaps, and partner with Sales Enablement on training programs.
- Coordinate with Survey Operations to scope and deliver custom aerial flights and offline products.
- Represent Nearmap as a thought leader through content, webinars, and industry events, and mentor junior Solutions Engineers.
Requirements
- Bachelor's degree in GIS, Geography, Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field with geospatial exposure.
- 3-5 years in a customer-facing technical role (e.g. Solutions Engineer, Civil Engineer, Software Engineer, Data Scientist), combining technical depth with business acumen.
- Proven pre-sales track record, with a history of influencing technical buying decisions and driving customer success.
- Domain expertise in Engineering, Construction, Property, or Geospatial sectors.
- A natural presenter who genuinely enjoys demonstrating and pitching, and isn't afraid of difficult conversations, comfortable flexing between deeply technical engineers and strong-willed senior executives such as CEOs.
- Self-driven and proactive, comfortable working autonomously in a fast-paced environment.
- Strong organisational skills, able to manage multiple priorities without losing precision.
- A creative, analytical problem solver who can tailor solutions to complex customer challenges.
Skills
- Advanced proficiency with APIs, programming (especially Python), and custom web GIS application development.
- Hands-on experience with geospatial platforms such as ArcGIS or QGIS.
