About the Role
As a Kitchen Hand, you will play an important role in supporting people living in our residential aged care by helping deliver nutritious meals in a safe and welcoming environment. Working as part of a supportive catering team, you will assist with food preparation, meal service, cleaning and maintaining high food safety and hygiene standards. Your contribution will help create a positive dining experience for residents and clients while ensuring the kitchen operates efficiently and in line with health and safety requirements.
Responsibilities
- Assist with basic food preparation and meal plating
- Support the delivery and serving of meals to residents and clients
- Wash dishes, utensils and kitchen equipment
- Maintain a clean, organised and hygienic kitchen environment
- Follow food safety, infection control and workplace health and safety procedures
- Receive, unpack and correctly store food supplies
- Assist with stock rotation and minimise food waste
- Work collaboratively with cooks, chefs and care staff to ensure timely meal service
- Support special dietary requirements as directed
- Contribute to a welcoming and respectful environment for residents, clients and visitors
Requirements
- Experience working in aged care, hospitality or community services environment (desirable)
- Knowledge of food safety and hygiene practices
- Ability to work efficiently in a fast-paced team environment
- Strong communication and teamwork skills
- A positive attitude with a genuine commitment to providing quality service
- Flexibility to work across a rotating roster, including weekends and public holidays if required
- Physical ability to undertake manual handling and kitchen duties
- Undertake a national police history check, qualifications and referee checks
- Have a clearance to work with children/vulnerable people
