About the Role

In collaboration with patients, families, and staff, this role performs selected clinical and administrative duties, including basic patient care and tasks associated with patient intake.

Responsibilities

  • Accurately interview patients and record medical history and vital signs.
  • Verify patient information, including demographics and insurance, and complete the intake process by entering data into EHR/EPM.
  • Greet and assist patients professionally, answer telephones, and provide information.
  • Collect, perform, document, and report results of CLIA waived lab tests.
  • Collect, prepare, and document specimen collection.
  • Perform clinical duties such as preparing patients for examinations and assisting providers.
  • Complete pre-visit planning to support clinical visits.
  • Administer medications per CUC formulary.
  • Perform medical acts as prescribed by Standing Delegation Orders.
  • Dismiss patients at the end of clinic visits, completing all necessary documentation.
  • Participate in new employee orientation and attend mandatory meetings.
  • Work collaboratively as a team member to communicate and coordinate patient care and workflow.
  • Coordinate and manage patient care, including communicating test results, assisting with pre-certifications, referrals, authorizations, prescriptions, and scheduling.
  • Follow up on diagnostic tests to ensure completion and documentation in EHR.
  • Perform surveillance programs, including completing medical records with all relevant patient information.
  • Maintain a clean and functional environment, including cleaning and disinfection of equipment and rooms.
  • Serve as a scribe, accurately documenting medical visits and procedures as they are performed by the provider.
  • Prepare referral letters as directed by the provider.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Requirements

  • Completion of a medical assistant externship.

Education Level

  • Graduation from high school or equivalent.
  • Medical Assistant Diploma and/or National Medical Assistant Certification verifying graduation from a Medical Assistant Program or equivalent military healthcare experience.
