About the Role

The Leadership & Legacy Giving Officer manages the donor development cycle and stewardship for major and planned giving donors. This role focuses on personalized engagement to maximize revenue for mission priorities through donor-centered fundraising, including identification, cultivation, and solicitation.

Responsibilities

  • Research, qualify, and manage a pipeline of prospects and donors to build philanthropic relationships.
  • Collaborate with territorial and divisional teams to align donor engagement strategies.
  • Conduct discovery meetings and prepare contact reports, proposals, and engagement plans.
  • Promote awareness of The Salvation Army’s relationship fundraising programs.
  • Implement a strategic donor engagement plan, dedicating approximately 60% of time to in-person interactions.
  • Manage the legacy donor cycle, maintaining an annual target of 80% revocable and 20% irrevocable planned gifts.
  • Partner with program leads to develop and refine a strategic fundraising framework.
  • Stay informed on planned giving trends, tax laws, and legislation.
  • Prepare and present high-quality materials, including proposals, solicitation plans, gift agreements, and stewardship reports.
  • Maintain comprehensive records in Raiser’s Edge NXT, tracking donor interactions and progress toward goals.

Requirements

  • Post-secondary diploma/degree in Marketing, Business Administration or Fundraising.
  • CFRE or working toward CFRE designation preferred.
  • Collaborative team player with the ability to build and maintain strong partnerships.
  • Highly organized and detail-oriented.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Proven ability to plan, lead, and deliver projects.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint).
  • Graphic design skills considered an asset.
  • Skilled at managing multiple priorities and adapting to a variety of tasks.
  • Demonstrated experience in donor relations, providing excellent customer service and maintaining positive donor engagement.
