About the Role

ICON is seeking a Field Engineering Technician II to support the commissioning, maintenance, and troubleshooting of Titan 3D printing systems in the field. This role involves working alongside senior technicians to resolve issues, execute preventive maintenance, and develop hands-on skills for independent operation on active construction sites. The position requires adaptability to travel, outdoor environments, and a steep learning curve with significant ownership from the start.

Responsibilities

  • Connect and disconnect electrical, pneumatic, and network cabling with minimal supervision.
  • Troubleshoot and resolve electrical, mechanical, and software issues independently.
  • Update ticketing system with accurate documentation of troubleshooting, replacements, and maintenance.
  • Build strong relationships with Print Operators to ensure smooth project execution and identify root causes of recurring issues.
  • Lead the coordination of complex tasks while ensuring team safety and efficiency.
  • Perform preventive maintenance and routine inspections to reduce downtime and maintain printer performance.
  • Monitor printer data to identify potential issues and address them proactively.

Requirements

  • 1+ year(s) experience as a Field Technician or equivalent in a technical, hands-on role.
  • Ability to read wiring diagrams and terminate cables.
  • Strong communication and documentation skills.
  • Ability to foresee potential issues and guide others in mitigating them.
  • Capacity to plan ahead and mitigate issues before they occur.
  • Ability to prioritize, adapt, and work under pressure in dynamic, fast-paced environments.
  • Proficiency in English, both spoken and written.
  • Must be prepared to work in extreme environments (temps > 100 degrees or below freezing, sun, rain, mud, lack of electricity).
  • Willingness to travel outside of Austin, TX, for extended periods.
  • Willingness to work on-call, nights, and weekends.
  • Must be able to lift 50 pounds.
