About the Role
The Assistant Director assists the QTRC in overseeing operations, planning events, hiring staff, and managing interns and volunteers. This role focuses on educating and engaging the community, fostering a welcoming environment for QTBIPOC individuals, and promoting LGBTQQIA issues and resources.
Responsibilities
- Oversee the operation of the QTRC, working closely with the Director to plan for Fall and Spring events, and hire and onboard new staff members.
- Assist Director with coordinating a minimum of 3 events each semester.
- Coordinate events to educate and engage with the community, and foster a welcoming environment with the Director for QTBIPOC individuals.
- Manage QTRC internship and volunteers about LGBTQQIA issues, maintain track of their hours of service, collect intern reflections, and support intern recognition.
- Provide guidance to volunteers about LGBTQQIA issues.
- Maintain all social media outlets such as Instagram, Youtube, GatorX, AS QTRC website, as well as the referral database concerning local LGBTQ+ resources.
- Address basic questions and concerns of individuals over the phone and in person.
- Maintain the library by updating the inventory once per year, monitor the book/DVD loan system, and promote library resources within the university community.
- Promote student support services through marketing and outreach.
- Support with design and social media requests to create marketing materials for annual and outreach events.
- Contribute to and submit written monthly and annual reports to Supervisor.
Requirements
- Current SFSU student enrolled in at least 6 units for undergraduates or 4 units for graduates.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- Working knowledge and understanding of LGBTQQIA culture.
- Preferred experience in planning and coordinating events.
- Preferred queer and/or trans* emphasis in studies.
