About the Role

Provides in-person instruction for the Graduate Jeweler (GJ) program, creating a positive and productive learning environment to guide student outcomes.

Responsibilities

• Instructs the Graduate Jeweler program curriculum using various manufacturing and repair equipment.
• Manages class setup and maintains cleanliness of workstations and instruments.
• Ensures administrative class management responsibilities are completed in a timely manner.
• Addresses student concerns promptly and communicates them to the NY director or appropriate staff.
• Evaluates student work, grades assignments, and discusses academic progress with students.
• Uses active listening to respond to student questions and maintains a culturally sensitive classroom environment.
• Participates in student orientation and graduation activities as needed.
• Supports other functional areas and travels occasionally for instructional/development purposes.
• Stays current with industry trends.
• Meets annual professional development requirements.

Requirements

• Comprehensive expertise in jewelry manufacturing processes, repair techniques, and use of specialized equipment.
• Proficient with a variety of bench tools and skills, including setting, repair, and fabrication techniques.
• Proficient in utilizing rolling mills, machine tools, and hand tools such as engravers.
• Proficient computer skills using Microsoft Office tools (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook).
• Ability to use school's AV equipment for presentations and Learning Management System.
• Ability to demonstrate a command of theory and contemporary knowledge.
• Ability to communicate complex information clearly and provide feedback to students.
• Ability to create positive interactions with students and communicate professionally with co-workers and management.
