About the Role

The Residential Aide (RA) provides direct assistance, support, and care to clients residing in the facility, while also supporting, assisting, and enforcing facility rules. This role is crucial for ensuring the well-being of residents at our Central Park West location in New York, NY.

Responsibilities

  • Complete new resident Intake arrival packets, exits logs, and daily occupancy forms.
  • Utilize the Department of Homeless Services (DHS) Client Assistance and Rehousing Enterprise Systems (CARES) for Intake Check-ins and Discharge Conditional Intakes.
  • Review Nightly Attendance Roster Incident reports.
  • Receive food deliveries, confirm items, and sign/date receipts.
  • Report inconsistencies with food deliveries to the Shift Supervisor and Program Director.
  • Distribute meals to residents and dispose of expired food items according to DHS guidelines.
  • Monitor logs to ensure clients sign the Daily Attendance Roster upon entry and exit.
  • Provide clients access to rooms and assist with room transfers/swaps.
  • Collect and dispose of trash in designated areas.
  • Distribute DHS notices (4002 notices, appointment slips, mail, etc.) to residents.
  • Adhere to DHS housekeeping mandates by cleaning office space, microwave, refrigerator, and bathroom at the end of every shift.
  • Bag and tag client personal belongings when necessary.
  • Report room cleaning and repair needs to the Shift Supervisor.
  • Collaborate with the on-site Shift Supervisor to ensure a safe environment for staff and clients.
  • Conduct hourly rounds of the facility to ensure room doors and clients' personal belongings are secured.
  • Conduct safety checks of clients staying in the facility due to illness or mobility issues.
  • Ensure clients are responsive during safety checks.
  • Immediately alert medical staff and immediate supervisor of any clients found in distress.
  • Rotate shifts at the discretion of the DPO to meet program needs.
  • Conduct operation unit inspections during the new intake process.
  • Maintain all logs (Attendance, ACS, emergency contacts, sign-in/out logbook) and submit them by the 1st of every month.
  • Create a dead file of all logs on the 1st of every month for storage.
  • Adhere to the dress code policy for uniformed personnel and maintain a professional appearance.
  • Review all paperwork and logs completed during the previous shift with the Shift Supervisor before the end of tour.
  • Physically check all unoccupied rooms for readiness, repairs, and cleanings.
  • Ensure all clean and ready units have clean linens and towels.
  • Alert the maintenance team of any needed items.
  • Complete and submit all required paperwork (daily occupancy, exit logs, meal census, NSR, new intake, curfew violations, incidents etc.).
  • Serve breakfast (8:00am-10:00am), lunch (12:00pm-2:00pm), and dinner (6:00pm-8:00pm).
  • Finalize Night Signature Roster (NSR) in CARES.
  • Ensure new logs for the month are in place.
  • Receive and log incoming meals (usually at 6:00am).
  • Deliver mail during the 8:00am to 4:00pm shift.
  • Clock in using the time clock system and onsite logbook.
  • Be available for overtime when necessary.
  • Work additional shifts to ensure coverage when staff is out of the office.

Requirements

  • Must have and maintain a valid NYS security license.
  • Must complete a satisfactory background investigation.
  • May be required to work long hours and a varied schedule to meet job demands and deadlines.
  • Periodically may bend, lift, and carry objects weighing up to seventy-five pounds.
