About the Role

Provide diagnostic patient care services using ultrasound and related diagnostic procedures. The scope of practice includes procedures permitted by law for which the individual has received education, clinical experience, demonstrated competency, and appropriate ARDMS certification. The role involves maintaining compliance, confidentiality, and promoting the organization's mission and philosophy.

Responsibilities

• Perform clinical assessment and diagnostic sonography examinations.
• Use cognitive sonographic skills to identify, record, and adapt procedures as appropriate to anatomical, pathological, diagnostic information and images.
• Use independent judgment during sonographic exams to accurately differentiate between normal and abnormal findings.
• Analyze sonograms, synthesize sonographic information and medical history, and communicate findings to the appropriate physician.
• Assume responsibility for the safety, mental and physical comfort of patients.
• Assist with the daily operations of the sonographic laboratory.
• Complete daily log of patients seen and billing forms.
• Maintain ultrasound equipment, work area, and adequate supplies.
• Participate in the potential maintenance of laboratory accreditation.
• Establish and maintain ethical working relationships and good rapport with interrelating referral offices, hospitals, or commercial agencies.
• Adhere to all company policies, including OSHA, HIPAA, compliance, and Code of Conduct.
• Maintain regular and dependable attendance.
• Follow core competencies set forth by the Company.
• Coordinate with other staff to ensure appropriate care is provided, including traveling to other clinics to assist when needed.
• Address problems of patient care as they arise and make decisions to appropriately resolve them.
• Provide in-service education to the team on requirements of sonographic procedures as requested.
• Perform other duties as assigned.

Requirements

• High school diploma or GED.
• Graduate of a formal Diagnostic Medical Sonography Program or other related training.
• One (1) or more years of experience performing OB/GYN ultrasound.
• Experience in an accredited perinatology setting is preferred.

Skills

• Ability to effectively operate sonographic equipment.
• Ability to evaluate sonograms to acquire appropriate diagnostic information.
• Ability to integrate diagnostic sonograms, laboratory results, patient history and medical records, and adapt sonographic examination as necessary.
• Ability to use independent judgment to acquire optimum diagnostic sonographic information.
• Ability to evaluate, synthesize, and communicate diagnostic information to the attending physician.
• Ability to communicate effectively with the patient and the health care team, recognizing the special nature of sonographic examinations and patient's needs.
• Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with the public and health care team.
• Ability to follow established departmental procedures.
• Ability to work efficiently and cope with emergency situations.
• Customer oriented in order to provide outstanding services to patients, physicians and co-workers.
• Ability to maintain awareness of patient privacy, confidentiality and dignity at all times.

• Excellent computer and keyboarding skills, including familiarity with Windows.
