About the Role
The Student Reading Specialist supports the mission of Holy Family Catholic School by providing academic reading support to targeted students identified by the Student Success Team. This role reports to the principal and assists in fulfilling the school's ministry by collaborating with faculty and administration to enhance student literacy.
Responsibilities
- Support and uphold the philosophy of Catholic education and the school mission
- Model Gospel values and teachings of the Catholic Church
- Adhere to the Code of Conduct and policies of the school and Diocese
- Maintain confidentiality regarding school matters
- Develop reading instruction tailored to identified student needs
- Instruct small groups of students
- Coach students on literacy techniques and skills
- Collaborate with the student success team to determine support strategies
- Monitor and report student progress to the team and families
- Provide support to ensure appropriate student learning environments
- Schedule direct services that reinforce classroom curriculum
- Analyze readiness and benchmark testing for students in caseload
- Maintain accurate records and student accommodations
- Demonstrate professionalism in conduct and work habits
- Meet staff development guidelines
- Maintain a work schedule that maximizes availability to the school community
Requirements
- Bachelor's degree in education from an accredited university
- Must meet minimum requirements for teaching field as set forth by the Diocese and TCCED
- Submit an Ethics and Integrity in Ministry (EIM) Application for Ministry within the first week of employment
- Participate in EIM Basic abuse prevention training within 60 days of application
- Maintain EIM compliance during the entire term of employment
- Complete Religion Certification Part 1 within two years of hire
