About the Role
We are seeking a part-time teacher to lead fun and engaging visual storytelling workshops with elementary school students after school. Instructors will guide students through all stages of creating short films, from brainstorming to post-production, while supporting their creative processes and social-emotional learning.
Responsibilities
- Implements course curriculum and assists with its development.
- Works with teaching assistant to create lesson plans in accordance with course curriculum.
- Requests supplies from Site Supervisor well in advance of class sessions.
- Leads classes with school-age children.
- Supervises children during transitions.
- Supervises teaching assistants.
- Communicates regularly with Site Supervisor and/or Director about student progress.
- Plans, coordinates, and oversees culminating events at the end of each cycle.
Requirements
- Subject-matter expertise in a field consistent with the subject taught.
- Patient, kind, and friendly demeanor.
- Strong leadership skills and the ability to effectively manage and correct conduct and performance of adults and children.
- Able to manage and prioritize multiple tasks.
- Exhibits creativity and innovativeness in a fast-paced environment.
- Able to use own initiative, sound judgment, tact, and diplomacy.
