About the Role
We are seeking a part-time coach to lead fun and instructional sports classes that prioritize inclusion, sportsmanship, and love of the game. The scheduled hours are from 2:30pm to 5:00PM, when NYC public schools are in session.
Responsibilities
- Implements course curriculum, and assists with its development
- Works with teaching assistant to create lesson plans in accordance with course curriculum
- Requests supplies from Site Supervisor well in advance of class sessions
- Leads classes with school-age children
- Supervises children during transitions
- Supervises teaching assistants
- Communicates regularly with Site Supervisor and/or Director about student progress
- Plans, coordinates, and oversees culminating events at the end of each cycle
Requirements
- Subject-matter expertise in a field consistent with the subject taught
- Patient, kind and friendly
- Strong leadership skills and the ability to effectively manage and correct conduct and performance of adults and children
- Able to manage and give priority to multiple tasks. Exhibits creativity and innovativeness working in a fast-paced environment.
