About the Role

Seeking a part-time teacher to lead visual art and design workshops for elementary school children after school. The role focuses on supporting social and emotional learning through choice-based activities that empower student voices and foster compassion, understanding, and kindness.

Responsibilities

  • Implements and assists with the development of course curriculum.
  • Works with teaching assistants to create lesson plans aligned with curriculum.
  • Requests supplies from Site Supervisor in advance of class sessions.
  • Leads classes for school-aged children.
  • Supervises children during transitions.
  • Supervises teaching assistants.
  • Communicates regularly with Site Supervisor and/or Director about student progress.
  • Plans, coordinates, and oversees culminating events at the end of each cycle.

Requirements

  • Subject-matter expertise in a field consistent with the subject taught.
  • Patient, kind, and friendly demeanor.
  • Strong leadership skills with the ability to effectively manage and correct conduct and performance of adults and children.
  • Ability to manage and prioritize multiple tasks.
  • Exhibits creativity and innovativeness in a fast-paced environment.
  • Able to use own initiative, sound judgment, tact, and diplomacy.
