About the Role
Seeking a part-time teacher to lead visual art and design workshops for elementary school children after school. The role focuses on supporting social and emotional learning through choice-based activities that empower student voices and foster compassion, understanding, and kindness.
Responsibilities
- Implements and assists with the development of course curriculum.
- Works with teaching assistants to create lesson plans aligned with curriculum.
- Requests supplies from Site Supervisor in advance of class sessions.
- Leads classes for school-aged children.
- Supervises children during transitions.
- Supervises teaching assistants.
- Communicates regularly with Site Supervisor and/or Director about student progress.
- Plans, coordinates, and oversees culminating events at the end of each cycle.
Requirements
- Subject-matter expertise in a field consistent with the subject taught.
- Patient, kind, and friendly demeanor.
- Strong leadership skills with the ability to effectively manage and correct conduct and performance of adults and children.
- Ability to manage and prioritize multiple tasks.
- Exhibits creativity and innovativeness in a fast-paced environment.
- Able to use own initiative, sound judgment, tact, and diplomacy.
