About the Role

The Heavy Equipment Operator is responsible for the safe operation of heavy equipment at the landfill for the purpose of pushing and compacting waste in an efficient and safe manner. This position is expected to have a shift schedule of 11:00 AM - 7:00 PM.

Responsibilities

• Perform pre- and post-operation inspections of equipment.
• Safely and efficiently operate equipment including compactor, excavator, bulldozer, front-end loader, and off-road truck.
• Continuously monitor waste for unacceptable materials.
• Monitor equipment condition to ensure operational readiness and minimize downtime.
• Clean tracks or wheels on equipment as needed.
• Complete Equipment Condition Report and other necessary reports.
• Report necessary equipment repairs to supervisor.
• Follow all required safety policies and procedures.
• Perform other job-related duties as assigned.

Requirements

• Two years of prior related experience in heavy equipment operation.
• One year of prior experience working at sites regulated by OSHA.
• Good customer service skills.
• Professional, courteous, and cooperative demeanor towards customers and co-workers.
• Honesty and trustworthiness.
• Suitable time management skills for efficient and safe completion of responsibilities.
• Good follow-through ability, including adherence to work schedule and managing challenges.
• Ability to adhere to Company policies and rules.
• Promotes Company safety standards.
• Does not take inappropriate risks.
• Maintains pride in work and strives to achieve goals.
