About the Role

The York School is seeking Supply Teachers for the 2025/2026 Academic Year to deliver curriculum and facilitate learning in the classroom when the regular teacher is absent. Assignments may be scheduled in advance or requested on the same day.

Responsibilities

• Perform all regular teaching duties to advance the curriculum left by the classroom Teacher
• Set a proper example for students and other community members
• Implement lesson plans, ensuring academic time integrity and motivating student participation
• Complete a Substitute Teacher Report Form for the regular classroom teacher at the end of each class or teaching period
• Understand and adhere to school policies and procedures, including emergency procedures
• Report all student injuries, accidents, illnesses, and discipline problems to the appropriate authority immediately or as soon as is reasonably possible

Requirements

• B.Ed. and a member in good standing with the Ontario College of Teachers
• Proven ability to work effectively as part of a collaborative, interdisciplinary team, contributing to a positive, inclusive school culture
• Ability to accept same-day requests for coverage is preferred

Skills

• Training and experience teaching within the International Baccalaureate (IB) framework
• Excellent written, verbal and interpersonal communication skills
• Strong ability to engage collaboratively with students, parents, and staff, prioritizing a service-oriented approach by ensuring professionalism, respect, and responsiveness in all interactions
• Strong organizational and time management skills, with the ability to manage competing priorities and meet deadlines in a dynamic and fast-paced environment
• Proficiency in navigating a technologically rich school environment, with expertise in Google Workspace
