About the Role

The York School is seeking Supply Teachers for the 2025/2026 Academic Year to deliver curriculum and facilitate learning in the absence of the regular classroom teacher. Assignments may be pre-arranged or require same-day coverage.

Responsibilities

• Perform regular teaching duties to advance the curriculum left by the classroom teacher.
• Set a proper example for students and other community members.
• Implement lesson plans, ensuring academic time integrity and motivating student engagement.
• Complete a Substitute Teacher Report Form for the regular classroom teacher at the end of each class or teaching period.
• Understand and adhere to school policies and procedures, including emergency procedures.
• Report all student injuries, accidents, illnesses, and discipline problems to the appropriate authority immediately or as soon as reasonably possible.

Requirements

• B.Ed. and a member in good standing with the Ontario College of Teachers.
• Proven ability to work effectively as part of a collaborative, interdisciplinary team, contributing to a positive, inclusive school culture.
• Ability to accept same-day requests for coverage is preferred.

Skills

• Training and experience teaching within the International Baccalaureate (IB) framework.
• Excellent written, verbal and interpersonal communication skills.
• Strong ability to engage collaboratively with students, parents, and staff, prioritizing a service-oriented approach.
• Strong organizational and time management skills, with the ability to manage competing priorities and meet deadlines in a dynamic and fast-paced environment.
• Proficiency in navigating a technologically rich school environment, with expertise in Google Workspace.
