About the Role
The Tenant Services Coordinator is responsible for providing supportive case management services and counseling to residents in a new permanent housing development for adults transitioning out of shelters. The role requires clinical skills and experience working with individuals experiencing homelessness to foster independence and well-being.
Responsibilities
- Maintain a caseload and provide supportive services including advocacy and referrals to community services.
- Provide counseling and crisis intervention.
- Assist residents in accessing and maintaining benefits.
- Maintain communication with the Property Management department and address maintenance issues.
- Conduct regular unit inspections.
- Monitor and assist residents with rent payments and budgeting.
- Maintain resident records and complete charting documentation for HRA contract compliance.
- Develop and implement resident-centered support plans and assist residents in achieving independence goals.
- Develop and facilitate support groups and recreational activities.
- Liaise with community services including hospitals, substance abuse treatment programs, and mental health programs.
- Attend ongoing training to enhance services.
- Assist with report completion.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s Degree in Social Work, Psychology or related field.
- Working knowledge of substance abuse, mental illness, and homelessness.
- Excellent clinical and case management skills.
- Knowledge of benefits in the NYC Metro area.
- Lived experience is a plus.
- Sensitivity to community issues and needs.
- Outstanding interpersonal and communication skills, both oral and written.
- Strong ethical standards, confidentiality, and personal integrity.
- Computer proficiency (email, Microsoft Word, Excel, and PowerPoint).
