About the Role
Abby Care is redefining family caregiving with AI-powered products and support. In this role, you will lead our mobile app development across iOS and Android, ensuring a delightful, easy-to-use, and robust experience for family caregivers. You will build for real-world conditions, define a testing framework, and ship improvements that families can rely on.
Responsibilities
- Lead mobile app development end-to-end, from concept to delivery, including technical design, feature implementation, performance improvement, and release management for iOS and Android.
- Build an intuitive and resilient caregiver-first experience, designing user flows optimized for non-technical users and ensuring reliable app performance in low-connectivity environments.
- Define and implement mobile testing frameworks grounded in real-world usage, including automated testing, regression coverage, monitoring, and quality gates.
- Partner with cross-functional teams to build solutions that work in real caregiving workflows, articulating technical tradeoffs and influencing product decisions.
- Set standards for code quality, architecture, observability, and security on mobile, contributing to scalable patterns for feature development, data handling, and API integration.
Requirements
- 5–7 years of professional software engineering experience, with meaningful experience building and shipping mobile apps.
- Experience developing for iOS and/or Android in production (native or cross-platform with tools like React-Native), including release management and debugging.
- Experience with React Native or Javascript / TypeScript.
- Strong understanding of mobile fundamentals: performance, reliability, lifecycle, background execution, local storage, and networking.
- Experience designing for real-world constraints such as intermittent connectivity, device variability, and accessibility needs.
- Experience defining and implementing testing strategy for mobile: automated tests, CI, regression frameworks, and quality gates.
- Experience integrating mobile apps with backend APIs and modern authentication patterns.
- A Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Science or related field is preferred.
- Experience with product development is preferred.
- Experience in the healthcare industry and at startups is preferred.
- Experience with offline-first or sync-heavy applications is nice to have.
- Familiarity with crash/performance monitoring and observability tools is nice to have.
