About the Role
The Intake Attorney serves as the initial point of contact for prospective clients, conducting consultations to assess legal needs, explaining firm services, and facilitating the transition from consultation to signed engagement. This role focuses on client relationship management and legal assessment rather than traditional litigation or case management.
Responsibilities
- Review intake notes, case facts, and documents prior to consultations
- Conduct scheduled and live consultations with pre-screened prospective clients
- Build trust and rapport during 20- to 30-minute consultations
- Identify prospective client legal problems, goals, and concerns
- Evaluate matters and identify potential firm services
- Explain firm teams, experience, services, fee structures, and approach
- Match prospective clients with appropriate attorneys and practice groups
- Develop proposed scopes of work based on client needs and firm guidelines
- Recommend initial retainers using established pricing
- Communicate the value of legal services and benefits of timely action
- Prepare thorough post-consultation notes
- Enter scopes of work and matter information into Salesforce
- Review proposed fee agreements for accuracy
- Collaborate with intake, administrative, sales, and legal teams
- Facilitate efficient client conversion to signed engagement
- Maintain a professional client experience for all inquiries
Requirements
- Juris Doctor degree from an accredited law school
- Active bar admission in at least one U.S. jurisdiction in good standing
- Prior experience in legal practice, legal intake, or client consultation
