About the Role

Equinix is seeking a Staff Software Engineer to design, develop, and operate scalable, cloud-based platforms and products. This role focuses on full stack & Agentic AI development, cloud-native technologies, Agile methodologies, and DevSecOps practices within a globally distributed engineering environment.

Responsibilities

  • Design and build AI-default, scalable, highly available enterprise platforms
  • Operate in a DevSecOps environment with a strong, quality-first mindset
  • Collaborate with globally distributed teams and product stakeholders
  • Demonstrate ownership, curiosity, and a strong customer focus
  • Contribute to architecture, peer reviews, and operational excellence
  • Work closely with Product Management and stakeholders to build effective business solutions
  • Deliver solutions aligned with architectural principles and guidelines
  • Design and develop highly available, scalable, secure, concurrent, and data-intensive distributed applications
  • Develop microservices and RESTful APIs aligned with industry standards
  • Operate within a DevSecOps environment using a quality-first approach
  • Participate in design reviews and peer code reviews
  • Troubleshoot and resolve production issues while maintaining compliance with service-level agreements (SLAs)
  • Investigate and evaluate emerging technologies and engineering practices
  • Participate in backlog refinement and sprint activities with Product Owners
  • Work effectively within a globally distributed development team
  • Operate with minimal supervision while maintaining strong accountability

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or a related field
  • Five or more years of software engineering experience
  • Five or more years of strong Java development experience
  • Strong understanding of data structures, concurrency, algorithms, design patterns, and software engineering best practices
  • Strong experience with full-stack technologies, including Java, Spring Boot, JPA/Spring Data, and React with TypeScript
  • Experience with microservices, REST APIs, and Swagger
  • Experience with Hibernate ORM, Maven, JUnit, JMeter, and LoadRunner
  • Experience with relational database modelling, RDBMSs, and NoSQL databases such as Redis, PostgreSQL, and Cassandra
  • Experience with Docker, Kubernetes, and Istio
  • Experience with public cloud platforms such as AWS, Azure, or GCP
  • Experience with Agentic AI, LangChain, Semantic Kernel, retrieval-augmented generation (RAG), and agent-orchestration frameworks
  • Experience with micro-frontends and modern UI frameworks
  • Experience with Agile and Scrum methodologies
  • Experience with test-driven development (TDD)
  • Experience with CI/CD pipelines and GitHub Actions
  • Keep the customer at the centre of decision-making
  • Foster belonging and create clarity across teams and stakeholder groups
  • Adapt quickly to changing priorities and technology landscapes
