About the Role

The Metropolitan Museum of Art seeks an individual responsible for the installation and maintenance of electrical systems and equipment, including lighting, power, and HVAC motors. This role involves troubleshooting, pipe bending, and maintaining electrical rooms, contributing to the museum's operational excellence.

Responsibilities

  • Installation and maintenance of switches, breakers, panels, receptacles, lighting fixtures, dimmer system and other electrical apparatus
  • Trouble-shoot electrical shorts, motors, and motor controls
  • Pipe bending and installing EMT, conduit, wire mold and BX
  • Maintain and clean electrical rooms, service rooms and shop
  • Other related duties

Requirements

  • Minimum 3 years of work experience with a licensed electrical contractor
  • Work safely on ladders and scissor lifts, and the ability to work in high places
  • Employees are expected to be located within commuting distance of the Museum (New York, New Jersey, Connecticut, or Pennsylvania)

Skills

  • Knowledge of and experience with hand and power tools, pipe bending, and circuitry
  • Basic knowledge of national and New York City electrical codes
  • Knowledge of Ohm's law and basic electrical circuitry
