About the Role
Join EDC and help Canadian businesses succeed abroad by providing them with the financial tools and expertise needed to explore new markets and mitigate risks, ultimately building a better Canada and world through trade.
Responsibilities
- Provide internal consulting services.
- Guide and advise financing, insurance, and equity teams from transaction sourcing through due diligence, closing, and asset management.
- Enhance and inform the negotiation and structuring of financial transactions undertaken by EDC.
- Support related decision-making processes.
Requirements
- University degree in engineering.
- Minimum of 10 years of relevant professional experience in a technical, consulting, project management, or other technical due diligence role within the specified sectors.
- Professional Engineer (PE) designation or eligibility for licensure in Canada.
- Willingness and ability to travel within Canada and internationally for site visits or meetings as required.
Skills
- Knowledge of the sector and ability to understand and interpret internal and external client needs.
- Excellent oral and written communication skills.
- Excellent presentation techniques.
- Ability to exercise sound technical and business judgment, often with limited information.
- Ability to mentor the assessment of complex or high-impact transactions involving established or startup businesses.
- Ability to take ownership of significant problems with complex structures and potentially demanding circumstances.
- Ability to prioritize and meet deadlines in a multi-project environment.
- Ability to discern, simplify, and clearly and concisely communicate the key issues of complex business transactions.
- Ability to provide advice based on client needs.
