About the Role
Waymo is seeking talented teammates to join its Systems Engineering team. This role involves leading ML model development end-to-end for safety-critical driving behaviors to evaluate and enhance the performance, safety, and scalability of our self-driving system. The team blends software and hardware systems, setting high performance standards and designing validation tests.
Responsibilities
- Lead ML model development end-to-end for safety critical driving behaviors to evaluate and enhance the performance, safety and scalability of our self driving system
- Design experiments and assess results to make clear data-driven decisions
- Find new ways to gather the required data needed to improve our models and improve data quality
- Communicate benefits and limitations of new models and metrics to partner teams
- Integrate and deploy metrics and models on fleet-wide data
- Operate on both tactical and strategic timescales
Requirements
- 5+ years ML modeling experience in production environments at large scale
- Solid understanding of physics, geometry, and dynamics
- Proficiency in C++ and Python
- Ability to learn and utilize new frameworks quickly, employing AI tools or otherwise
- Proven ability to work cross functionally with both Product and Engineering stakeholders
