About the Role
The Department of Agriculture and Markets is seeking five Maintenance Supervisor 1s to oversee maintenance shops on the New York State Fairgrounds. These positions support the mission to create an educational hub for agriculture and commerce, deliver quality entertainment and learning, and champion the promotion and marketing of New York's agri-business, contributing to economic growth and job creation.
Responsibilities
- Supervising and instructing crews in maintenance, repair, installation, and construction activities.
- Performing skilled journey-level trades work in one or more skilled trades.
- Preparing surfaces and applying paint, varnish, and other finishes.
- Installing, altering, and repairing plumbing, heating, ventilation, water, and drainage systems.
- Performing journey-level carpentry work, including construction, repair, roofing, millwork, and furniture work.
- Installing and adjusting door and building hardware, including locks.
- Performing skilled mechanical work in automotive repair, including maintenance and overhaul of gasoline, diesel, and alternative fuel equipment.
- Performing routine maintenance and mechanical repairs on vehicles and equipment.
- Performing repairs, maintenance, and installation of electrical systems and equipment, including motors, wiring, switches, and alarm systems.
- Repairing and maintaining radios, televisions, and music players.
Requirements
- One year of trade experience subsequent to the completion of an apprenticeship or equivalent training and experience.
- Experience equivalent to Trades Specialist (Carpenter), Trades Specialist (Electrician), Service & Repair Mechanic (Electronics), Trades Generalist, Grounds Construction Supervisor, Trades Specialist (Locksmith), Trades Specialist (Machinist), Trades Specialist (Mason & Plasterer), Service & Repair Mechanic (Motor Equipment), Trades Specialist (Painter), Trades Specialist (Plumber & Steamfitter), Service & Repair Mechanic (HVAC-R), Trades Specialist (Roofing), or Trades Specialist (Welder).
