About the Role
The Engineer performs general maintenance work to ensure hotel physical plant quality and safety standards are achieved and maintained. This position will perform maintenance and repairs, and preventative maintenance, to all areas of the hotel.
Responsibilities
- Paints, stains and varnishes using brushes and rollers
- Repairs surfaces, plaster, trim and sheetrock, sands sandblast and burns as needed old finishes
- Erects scaffold and ladders as needed
- Mixes and matches paint, requisitions supplies, refinishes furniture as needed, hangs and repairs wall paper and vinyl
- Performs other minor maintenance and repairs and/or conducts preventative maintenance duties as needed
- Ensures that assigned equipment is prepared and operational for the following day’s work
- Adheres to federal, state and local regulations concerning safety or other compliance requirements, as well as brand standards and local policy and procedures
- Reports all unsafe conditions or malfunctioning equipment to supervisor
- Educates and trains hotel staff in the safe and proper use of equipment
- Follows procedures that ensure the security of inventory and assets such as tools, supplies, equipment, furniture, televisions, etc.
- Replenishes supplies and inventory in a timely and efficient manner, and minimizes waste
- Responds in a courteous and prompt manner to all guest questions, complaints and/or requests
- Promotes teamwork and quality service through daily communication and coordination with other departments
- Assists with other duties as assigned
