About the Role
Barclays is seeking an Equity Research Biotech AVP to produce and deliver research with differentiated market insights and actionable ideas to clients. This role involves analyzing market data, developing investment theses, and presenting research views to clients through various communication channels.
Responsibilities
- Analyze market, sector, corporate, and/or economic data to develop investment theses for coverage universe.
- Produce research reports ranging from individual company/sector notes to long-dated thematic reports.
- Present research views to Barclays clients via direct interactions, events, and written communications.
- Engage with Markets, Client Strategy, and other stakeholders to promote research awareness.
- Prioritize interaction with the most relevant and valuable clients for research.
- Provide insights and research views to internal clients to help navigate financial markets and risks.
- Collaborate with Supervisory Analyst, Compliance, and other stakeholders to ensure compliant research production and delivery.
- Advise and influence decision-making, contribute to policy development, and take responsibility for operational effectiveness.
- Lead a team performing complex tasks, delivering work that impacts the business function.
- Set objectives, coach employees, appraise performance, and determine reward outcomes.
- Lead collaborative assignments and guide team members through structured assignments.
- Identify the need for inclusion of other specializations to complete assignments.
- Identify new directions for assignments and/or projects, utilizing cross-functional methodologies.
- Consult on complex issues and provide advice to People Leaders for escalated issues.
- Identify ways to mitigate risk and develop new policies/procedures.
- Take ownership for managing risk and strengthening controls.
- Perform work closely related to other areas, understanding coordination and contribution to organizational objectives.
- Collaborate with other work areas and business-aligned support areas.
- Engage in complex analysis of data from multiple sources to solve problems creatively and effectively.
- Communicate complex information, including sensitive or difficult-to-convey content.
- Influence or convince stakeholders to achieve outcomes.
- Collaborate with the Senior Analyst to produce comprehensive research reports and presentations.
- Monitor market trends, economic indicators, and company news to update and refine investment solutions.
- Engage with institutional clients to communicate research findings and provide strategic recommendations.
Requirements
- Ability to conduct detailed analysis and valuation of companies.
- Proficiency in financial modeling and interpreting highly detailed financial statements.
- Deep understanding of the Biotech sector.
- Solid written and verbal communication skills.
- Ability to effectively convey research investment recommendations to clients.
- Experience in Healthcare Investment Banking, Life Sciences, or sell-side Biotech Research.
- Familiarity with financial software and databases such as Bloomberg, and advanced Excel.
- Ability to lead projects and mentor junior analysts.
- FINRA licensing: SIE, S63, S86, S87.
- CFA designation or in process.
