About the Role

Macroscope is seeking a generalist Product Designer to own design across all company surfaces, including product UI, website, and marketing materials. This role is crucial for ensuring that all shipped products and communications reflect high design craft, directly impacting the customer's first impression. The designer will collaborate closely with founders and engineers, contributing to the company's mission of providing clarity and saving engineers time.

Responsibilities

  • Own design coverage across the company, product UI, front-end website, social content, and any other visual surface.
  • Design and ship product, taking work from concept through production React/Typescript UI.
  • Drive content creation and code implementation of updates to the website macroscope.com.
  • Create compelling visual media to showcase, explain, and celebrate new product features and company announcements.
  • Maintain and extend the design system to ensure quality scales with autonomous agents.
  • Partner with engineers on in-flight features, refining interactions, animations, error states, and edge cases.

Requirements

  • 2+ years of design experience, ideally at early-stage startups or on small teams.
  • Strong fundamentals in typography, layout, color, UX judgment, and visual taste.
  • Confident shipping front-end code (HTML/CSS, Typescript, React) for product UI and website updates.
  • Experience designing for technical audiences; developer tools experience is a plus.
  • High urgency in unblocking teammates.
  • High agency for thinking of new ways to broadcast the product.
  • Experience using AI tools to accelerate design and engineering work, with curiosity for staying updated on the latest tools and workflows.
  • High agency and self-motivation.
  • Willingness to work extremely hard on a high-risk venture.
  • Act like an owner, putting immense care and craft into work and taking responsibility for all parts of the product.
