About the Role
Zello is seeking a Software Engineer I - AI Generalist to join the Quality Engineering team. This role will leverage AI to enhance overall quality and contribute across the engineering organization. It offers exposure to testing, tooling, and product engineering, allowing for career growth and shaping future opportunities.
Responsibilities
- Use AI tools and agents to accelerate test creation, execution, and triage across Zello's clients and services.
- Perform targeted manual testing and convert repetitive manual checks into durable automation.
- Build small tools and AI harnesses to improve engineering team efficiency.
- Contribute code with agent assistance by rotating into engineering squads (iOS, Android, Web, backend).
- Identify quality gaps before shipping and propose solutions.
- Communicate clearly and concisely with a distributed team, surfacing blockers early.
Requirements
- Have built a project, internship, hackathon entry, or open-source contribution and be able to discuss it.
- Utilize AI coding tools as a force multiplier and be eager to explore their potential.
- Write code in at least one language (Python, JS/TS, Java, Swift, Kotlin, or Go) and adapt to new stacks quickly.
- Willingness to work across multiple parts of the system rather than specializing early on.
- Proactively identify problems and drive them to completion without constant direction.
- Enhance the productivity of team members through collaboration and clear written communication.
- Have 0-3 years of experience and be early in your career.
