About the Role

As a Software Engineer II on the Data Engineering Platform team, you will help steward Marqeta's Snowflake data platform, contributing to its configuration-as-code, access model, schema-migration tooling, and compliance automation. You will also contribute to services operating on top of the warehouse, including a customer-facing financial reporting API, ETL pipelines, replication checks, and data masking.

Responsibilities

Author and maintain Terraform for Snowflake resources across a multi-account, multi-region footprint.
Extend the role-based access-control model, including short-lived credential provisioning and access-review workflows.
Contribute to the Snowflake schema-migration platform and CI/CD pipelines.
Work on data-retention automation and cost/lifecycle management for Snowflake efficiency.
Contribute to services like a customer-facing financial reporting API, Apache Airflow pipelines, cross-region DDL parity checks, and a sensitive-data masking service.
Author Terraform and Python for surrounding AWS infrastructure (Lambda, IAM, networking, CloudFront/S3).

Requirements

2+ years of professional software engineering experience, or equivalent.
Strong proficiency in Python and working SQL knowledge.
Production experience in AWS or a comparable cloud.
Comfort operating in a regulated environment.
Familiarity with infrastructure-as-code (Terraform or comparable).
Track record of taking a project from ambiguous problem statement to shipped code with limited supervision.
Strong written and verbal communication skills.
Commitment to code quality, testing, and documentation.
