About the Role
Varo is redefining banking for millions of everyday Americans. As Lead Finance Business Partner, you will be the strategic architect behind our next phase of growth, operating at the intersection of a high-growth fintech and a nationally chartered bank. This role involves driving enterprise-wide financial forecasting, strategic capital allocation, and business unit finance, acting as a vital strategic partner to the executive team.
Responsibilities
- Own the enterprise-wide annual budgeting, rolling forecasting, and long-range strategic planning processes, translating company goals into robust financial models.
- Act as the primary financial advisor to business unit leaders, delivering deep-dive analyses on unit economics, margins, and investment KPIs to optimize operational performance.
- Synthesize complex financial performance, variances, and strategic trade-offs into high-impact presentations for the executive team, Board of Directors, and regulatory bodies.
- Lead, mentor, and scale a high-performing FP&A team, fostering an inclusive, data-driven culture focused on continuous improvement and automation.
Requirements
- 10+ years of progressive finance experience, with a significant portion spent leading FP&A or Business Finance teams within a banking, fintech, or regulated financial services environment.
- Strong foundational knowledge of bank revenue, expense, and balance sheet mechanics.
- Exceptional ability to distill highly technical financial information into clear, compelling narratives for both financial and non-financial stakeholders.
- Expert-level financial modeling skills with a track record of using AI and modern business finance and FP&A software tools to automate data aggregation and scale forecasting processes.
- A collaborative, growth-oriented mindset with a passion for serving Varo’s core customer base.
