About the Role

The Physician performs comprehensive physical assessments, provides services related to health maintenance and promotion, and establishes diagnosis for common short term and chronic stable health conditions. The Physician will perform other therapeutic or corrective measures as indicated and provide acute care when necessary, and within the scope of training. The Physician initiates appropriate action to facilitate the implementation of a therapeutic plan consistent with the continuing health care needs of the patient.

Responsibilities

  • Supervise the Physician Assistants and collaborate with Nurse Practitioners employed by the practice, as assigned
  • Participate in daily team huddles
  • Assess the health status of patients based on history and physical and a formulated diagnosis as a part of a team approach in caring for the individual patient
  • Provide therapeutic intervention, prescribe drugs, devices, and immunizing agents
  • Assess patient systems, evaluate physical findings, formulate a diagnosis, and develop an appropriate management plan
  • Order and review labs, diagnostic tests and provide appropriate follow-up of results
  • Monitor and provide follow-up of clients with acute illness and chronic conditions
  • Referral of community resources that may be beneficial to patients
  • Make appropriate consultations and referrals
  • Use Disease Management and Health Maintenance to coordinate care for individual patients
  • Participate in clinical, educational, and administrative meetings and activities
  • Share call schedule as directed
  • Maintain privileges at Westfield Memorial Hospital in Westfield
  • Perform any additional duties as assigned by management

Requirements

  • Current Physician license and board certification in family practice or similar specialty
  • Graduate of accredited medical school and residency program required
  • Current CPR certification
