Responsibilities
- Responsible for the day-to-day operations and staffing for the kitchen and dining venues.
- Manages and supervises all Culinary Services staff, including scheduling, performance reviews, hiring, and corrective action.
- Meets regularly with residents and family members to ensure high satisfaction levels.
- Collaborates with the restaurant manager to provide high levels of customer service and create a restaurant-style dining atmosphere.
- Ensures front and back of house staff work together to exceed resident and guest expectations.
- Assists kitchen and restaurant staff with operations as needed, including working all stations.
- Works with the Executive Director and staff to achieve and maintain customer satisfaction and quality enhancement scores.
- Delegates tasks to maintain the highest levels of cleanliness and quality in kitchen and restaurant areas.
- Ensures food is prepared, stored, and served according to company standards and health code requirements.
- Maintains employee satisfaction scores at or above designated scores.
- Interviews and hires staff for the Culinary Services department.
- Conducts and participates in monthly department meetings and in-services.
- Understands and maintains monthly and annual budgets for the Culinary Services department, including tracking spend on food, supplies, and labor.
- Works with staff and residents in planning and developing recipes and menus based on resident preferences and budgets.
- Ensures all staff use and maintain equipment properly.
- Maintains appropriate inventory of kitchen supplies, small wares, and tableware.
- Ensures purchasing standards are maintained and appropriate vendors are used, fostering positive vendor relationships.
- Plans, prepares, and executes Engage Life events, special events, banquets, and theme meals.
- Works closely with the Community Sales Director and staff to market the community through events.
- Ensures kitchen and restaurant staff understand company expectations and first impression requirements.
- May perform other duties as assigned or requested.
Requirements
- Five (5) or more years of Culinary Experience in the hospitality industry.
- High School Diploma or General Education Degree (GED).
- Strong organization and time management skills.
- Ability to resolve problems of dissatisfied customers and/or employees.
- Food handler's permit as required by state law and/or Company standards.
- Basic Computer skills – Microsoft Word, Outlook, and Excel.
- Position may require driving responsibilities.
- Must possess a valid driver's license.
- Must satisfactorily meet and be in compliance with Company motor vehicle policy standards.
