About the Role

Hitachi Rail is seeking a design engineer to generate designs for the automated functional testing of PCBA’s and sub racks in a manufacturing environment. This role supports the integration and validation of Simulators and Second Line Maintenance Devices (SLMD’s), and requires troubleshooting of automated test equipment.

Responsibilities

• Develop hardware and software test solutions based on a Test Specification to meet production schedules.
• Debug and return to service failed automated test equipment.
• Work with contract manufacturers globally to support and coordinate the release of new production test solutions and troubleshoot existing ones.
• Support the integration of hardware and software for simulators and SLMDs during the validation phase.
• Maintain legacy test systems and develop cost-effective new test solutions for legacy hardware.
• Communicate with stakeholders regarding the status and planning of hardware delivery schedules.
• Support the design of simulators, including requirements review, design generation, and design reviews.

Requirements

• Minimum of 5 years of experience in electronic hardware and system design in rail, transportation, or similar safety-critical industries.
• Thorough working knowledge and experience using LabView and TestStand software.
• Familiarity with NI equipment.
• Scripting knowledge using Python and Visual Basic.
• English language fluency is mandatory.
• Well-developed writing skills to prepare effective reports and documents.
• Excellent interpersonal and diplomatic skills for dealing with internal and external stakeholders and customers.

Salary/Compensations

• $90,000 - $128,000
