About the Role
This role places you at the heart of financial strategy decisions that shape launch readiness, pricing, and access for medicines, translating insight into action for therapies that change lives. You will serve as the finance lead for a designated disease area with full P&L responsibility, guiding cross-functional teams through strategic choices and investment decisions.
Responsibilities
- Full P&L ownership for a designated disease area across the UK & Ireland, spanning in-line and pipeline assets, driving revenue, expense and contribution objectives.
- Partner disease area leadership to evaluate strategic choices and shape the disease strategic plan, launch readiness and loss-of-exclusivity scenarios.
- Lead financial modelling and scenario analysis for pricing, reimbursement and access business cases with Market Access and cross-functional stakeholders, producing robust recommendations.
- Represent Finance in senior forums; act as the primary interface between local, EUCAN and Global Finance to align priorities and investment decisions.
- Lead strategic plans, annual budgets and monthly forecasts in line with regional and corporate standards and timelines.
- Apply AI and advanced analytics to strengthen forecasting, scenario modelling, variance analysis and performance insights.
- Lead business performance reviews with franchise and leadership teams; identify risks and opportunities and drive actions to deliver disease-area goals.
- Ensure disciplined OPEX and investment deployment so resources align to strategic priorities and value delivery.
- Provide monthly financial reporting and clear commentary to local, EUCAN and International stakeholders, translating analysis into actionable recommendations.
- Ensure financial integrity through robust month-end close, accurate reporting and compliance with Alexion accounting policies and internal controls.
- Act as a role model for finance business partnering by building financial acumen across the disease team through coaching, training and day-to-day decision support.
- Support the Head of Finance on ad-hoc projects and initiatives to strengthen control, capability and performance.
Requirements
- Significant post-qualification experience in finance (FP&A, business partnering or controlling)
- Experience working in complex, matrix organisations
- Proven track record in financial planning, forecasting and performance management
- Strong experience partnering senior stakeholders and influencing decisions
- Exposure to regional and global finance environments
- Outstanding analytical skills with ability to connect data to business decisions
- Strong business partnering and stakeholder influencing skills
- AI and advanced analytics fluency with ability to translate insights into action
- Proactive, curious and solutions-oriented mindset
- Ability to challenge constructively and drive continuous improvement
- Pharma/biotech experience, particularly in disease-area or franchise models
- Experience supporting pricing, reimbursement and access business cases
- Understanding of UK & Ireland healthcare and reimbursement landscape
- Experience with financial planning, analytics or visualisation tools
