About the Role

The Law Clerk provides high-level legal and administrative support to the Health Law practice group, focusing on file management, document preparation, and proactive support for complex litigation.

Responsibilities

  • Manage client files throughout their lifecycle in accordance with firm protocols.
  • Anticipate next steps and identify potential risks or issues.
  • Monitor a bring-forward system to track deadlines and commitments.
  • Coordinate the collection, review, and organization of documents and medical records.
  • Draft affidavits of documents and support disclosure obligations.
  • Review discovery transcripts and track undertakings.
  • Prepare case materials including briefs, chronologies, and evidentiary summaries.
  • Assist with trial and regulatory hearing preparation.
  • Coordinate expert witnesses and arrange third-party services.
  • Communicate professionally with clients, regulators, and legal counsel.
  • Coordinate with plaintiff and co-defendant counsel to obtain productions.
  • Prepare correspondence, reporting letters, and status updates.
  • Draft closing and file resolution documentation.
  • Conduct legal research as needed.
  • Assist with billing processes including invoices, budgets, and fee estimates.

Requirements

  • Law Clerk Diploma or equivalent education and experience.
  • 3 - 5 years of experience in a legal environment, preferably in litigation.
  • Understanding of litigation processes.
  • Ability to manage multiple files simultaneously.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills.
  • Ability to troubleshoot and resolve administrative and procedural issues.
  • Ability to handle sensitive information with discretion.
