About the Role
Homes for the Homeless (HFH) is seeking an experienced Custodian/Porter for our Families w/ Children facility in Hell's Kitchen, Manhattan. This role is crucial for maintaining a clean, safe, and well-maintained environment for families residing in the facility.
Responsibilities
- Clean hallways, lobbies, restrooms, and other work areas to meet health standards.
- Vacuum, sweep, scrub, wax, and polish floors using brooms, mops, or powered machines.
- Wash windows, glass partitions, and mirrors.
- Dust and disinfect furniture, walls, machines, and equipment.
- Perform garbage-related tasks.
- Complete unit turnover tasks.
- Perform light painting as needed.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
Requirements
- Experience in custodial work.
- Familiarity with the proper use of cleaning equipment and chemicals.
- Ability to reach, bend, stoop, and frequently lift up to 60 pounds.
- Ability to stand for long periods of time (up to 9 hours).
