About the Role
This role manages a wide range of HR activities including recruiting, onboarding, employee engagement, learning and development, compensation, benefits, wellness, payroll, recordkeeping, HR compliance, and safety. The position advises leaders on complex employee relations matters, serves as an HR resource, and develops effective working relationships to provide excellent customer service. The role may also supervise a small HR support team.
Responsibilities
- Lead recruitment efforts for hourly, professional, and/or management positions.
- Serve as a primary resource for hiring managers in recruitment and staffing.
- Execute recruitment, interviewing, hiring, and temporary staffing plans.
- Partner with managers to update job descriptions and manage the interview and selection process.
- Guide HR team in triaging critical staffing shortages.
- Partner with outside agencies to conduct recruitment events.
- Represent DFA career opportunities in accordance with company values.
- Share job opportunities on social media sites in partnership with talent acquisition.
- Lead and execute the onboarding of new and repositioned employees.
- Partner with management to create comprehensive onboarding plans.
- Facilitate talent management initiatives to drive engagement, build business capabilities, and enhance retention.
- Partner with HR team to ensure consistency with organizational talent initiatives.
- Provide leadership in the execution of HR processes, practices, and policies.
- Communicate HR practices and procedures to leaders.
- Support leaders in executing performance activities, compensation tasks, and corrective actions.
- Effectively partner with HR team at business unit level and headquarters.
- Develop recommendations for HR process improvement.
- Document HR practices and procedures and work toward consistency.
- Provide employee relations support for leaders.
- Consult with employees and managers to address and resolve employee concerns and disputes.
- Escalate and recommend appropriate actions for employee relations issues.
- Oversee payroll processing and process payroll as needed.
- Ensure payroll processes are in place and executed on schedule.
- Provide solution and training recommendations to people leaders and employees.
- Coordinate employee wellness and engagement activities.
- Support and track employee engagement action planning.
- Participate in employee engagement team meetings and activities.
- Create and provide people analytics, including position control tracking, recruiting/hiring reports, turnover reports, exit feedback, and performance/compensation task tracking.
- Process personnel changes, including status, position, pay, and personal information.
- Support Affirmative Action Planning and reporting.
- Perform job analysis and advise people leaders in matters of compensation, job classification, and career pathing.
- Maintain personnel files.
- Manage Worker’s Compensation claims.
- Participate in safety and risk initiatives.
- Maintain the highest level of confidentiality.
- Delegate work, review performance, supervise, schedule, train, coach, and develop direct reports.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
Requirements
- Undergraduate degree in Human Resources, Organizational Psychology, Business Administration, or related discipline (or equivalent combination of education and experience).
- Master’s degree preferred.
- 5 to 8 years of progressive generalist human resources experience.
- Demonstrated leadership attributes or supervisory experience.
- Experience with HR information systems and Microsoft Office applications.
- Experience in a union environment may be required or preferred.
- Human Resources certifications preferred (e.g., PHR/SPHR, SHRM, HRCI).
Skills
- Comprehensive knowledge of Human Resources principles, concepts, and practices.
- Comprehensive knowledge and familiarity with federal, state, and local HR and payroll requirements.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications and HRIS systems.
- Ability to interpret and apply company policies.

Experience Level
- 5 to 8 years of progressive generalist human resources experience
Education Level
